LSG College of Law offers a new CPD-approved certificate course for the new CPD year — Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
Participants will learn the fundamentals of WSIB, including: the Board’s history, why it was created, its policies, employment law and human rights in the workplace, and employer obligations to ensure workplace safety.
Participants will learn about filing a claim, what forms to use, and how to deal with WSIB staff at various stages of the claims process. Classes will cover options for when a claim is denied, including the process and procedures at the Workplace Safety Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT).
Paralegal Ralph Carnovale teaches this course. He has more than 20 years’ experience in labour bargaining, arbitration, WSIB, Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, and appeals.
The course includes a mock WSIB/WSIAT hearing. It is approved for 21 Substantive and 3 Professionalism Hours towards the CPD Requirement, so participants will have their basic Requirement met with one four-week course.
Classes start Jan. 7, 2014 and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendance may be in-person at the Etobicoke location, or live via webinar.
Space is limited. The course fee is $300 + HST. To enrol, visit:
