“Contraventions Act” — This is federal legislation that affects regulatory offences that are prosecuted under the Provincial Offences Act (POA). Prosecutions that commence by way of a ticket issued under Parts I and II, although federal offences, can be conducted by municipalities, using POA processes and procedures.

The Contraventions Act covers tickets related to boating, fishing and wildlife-related offences.
