Provincial Offences get the CPD On-time treatment in July, with a mid-day Continuing Professional Development course.

“Strictly Provincial” is slated to run Saturday, July 20, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the North York Central Library (second floor). The course will be accredited, with the CPD Requirement Hours to be announced later. It will include a minimum of .50 Professionalism Hours, for new licensees.

Registration will open soon. The fee of $125 in-person includes snacks, so it’s best to book before June 30. The webinar is $75.00. Student rates and early bird pricing may be available; check updates for details.

Topics to be covered include: laying of charges; case management (where paperwork wins the case); advice for mentors and new licensees; advocacy (what, when and how to ask questions); developing a theory, including risks, pitfalls and ID defences; sentencing and s. 59 (2) probation, suspensions and jail deterrence; appeal issues and strategy; bail pending appeal

Speakers include: Claude Gelbard, Jessyica Greenwood, Stephen Parker and Amber Smart.

Check the CPD On-Time site as details and registration become available.

I am looking forward to a strictly POA-focused cpd program. Jessyca Greenwood I enjoy very much, what a brilliant lawyer (and leader) she is. Frank Alfano, another very experienced great speaker. Looking forward to hearing both of them speak as well as meeting and learning from the rest of the day’s line-up!
