Provincial Offences get the CPD On-time treatment in July, with a mid-day Continuing Professional Development course.
“Strictly Provincial” is slated to run Saturday, July 20, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the North York Central Library (second floor). The course will be accredited, with the CPD Requirement Hours to be announced later. It will include a minimum of .50 Professionalism Hours, for new licensees.
Registration will open soon. The fee of $125 in-person includes snacks, so it’s best to book before June 30. The webinar is $75.00. Student rates and early bird pricing may be available; check updates for details.
Topics to be covered include: laying of charges; case management (where paperwork wins the case); advice for mentors and new licensees; advocacy (what, when and how to ask questions); developing a theory, including risks, pitfalls and ID defences; sentencing and s. 59 (2) probation, suspensions and jail deterrence; appeal issues and strategy; bail pending appeal
