Tom Conway is re-elected, by acclamation, as Treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada, for a second term.
Calling the acclamation a “great honour,” Conway reiterated his commitment to Access to Justice, as the over-arching goal of his tenure in the position.
“To support the professions more broadly will contribute to our success as a profession,” he said.
“In my view, it is no longer enough to identify access to justice as a priority” and respond with one-off, ad hoc initiatives.
“It’s time to dedicate resources and integrate access to justice into the core business and operational plan. Our rules, regulations and program initiatives should be more proactive and collaborative, bringing together decision-makers to identify gaps” in access to justice, particularly in civil law.
